A bit of history
We’ve been around for a while!
Since 2005, we have been providing websites and ancillary services such as domains and email and our included support and update package, which quite possibly can’t be beaten. We have grown over the years, which has had its challenges as we are a small business operating in a fiercely competitive environment.
A brief history of Gabriel Media is below.
2005
May 2005
Gabriel Media was born!
Born in 2005, the three directors used their contacts to look for small organisations such as parishes and schools that needed websites
We wrote our own CMS (Content Management System) to enable people to update their own websites
In early 2006 we were ready and used our contacts gained over the months to build a portfolio of websites using this system
It was very well received and was ahead of its time in 2006
Right from the start, we decided to include support and updates roled into the annual fee. We still do this today for the customer’s peace of mind
2015
Things needed to change
In 10 years we carried on developing our CMS. However, we knew that, with the introduction of tablets and smartphones to the mass market, we needed a system that was able to be viewed across all technologies
Being a small business, we did not have the resources to develop our own new CMS as the complexity was many times that of our legacy system
So, we scoured the known universe for a product that would do the job. We tried many but kept coming back to Weebly. We opened a designer account and started using it in anger

Artificial Intelligence
We realised that AI (Artificial Intelligence) was becoming more and more prevalent. It was creeping into a lot of industries, and the software industry was no different
Being able to create your own website using AI was certainly very attractive and a lot cheaper than using a web designer. However, once written, there was a lack of support and tecnical expertise required to keep the website going
Gabriel Media rode the initial wave. The web industry was moving very quickly and we started to get more enquiries for more and more complex websites with features that we could not provide on the Weebly platform
So, the search was on again for an advanced platform that was self edit friendly
We looked at the most popular website CMS out there and decided to jump in. This was WordPress, home to over 800 million websites, 45% of the total websites out there!
2024
New platform launch
We used WordPress ourselves for a number of months to ensure our skills were enhanced ready for a launch later in 2024
However, we found that WordPress required a contributor with more technical training
At Gabriel Media, our original ethos was to ‘provide websites to small business that are easy to update and required only a small amount of techical knowledge to update‘
We then researched a way that we could simplify WordPress so that it could be easily updated
Divi was the answer and our new platform was born
Gabriel Media has come a long way and we are looking forward to embracing the future
